If you are receiving unsolicited messages or entering a competition via a short code/USSD string and want to know who is sending those messages, enter the code/USSD string and if WASPA has the code/USSD string on record, the contact details of the WASPA member will be displayed.

Short Code
- A unique 5 digit number used for SMS campaigns and for WASP services. Example : “SMS Quote to 31234”.

Long Code
- A 11 to 16 digit number used for SMS communication and marketing of WASP services. Example “Company A runs specials on Product A, Ts&Cs apply. SMS STOP to opt-out”.

USSD String
- An interaction method between the user and the company offering the WASP service. Example “*120*31234#”.
Short Code
- Enter any 5 digit number without spaces or symbols. If we have the code on record, the contact details of the WASPA member linked to the code will be displayed.

Long Code
- Enter any 11 to 16 digit number from which a SMS was received. Start your search by entering 27 (do not add a +) and then immediately type in the rest of the number (without any spaces or special characters). If we have the code on record, the contact details of the WASPA member linked to the code will be displayed.

USSD String
- enter any USSD format without spaces. If we have the USSD string on record, the contact details of the WASPA member linked to the code will be displayed.
Cell C Users
- Use the USSD string *133*1#

MTN Users
- Use the USSD string *155# or *141*5#

Telkom Users
- Use the USSD string 180 or *179*7867

Vodacom Users
- Use the USSD string *135# / *135*997# / *117#

- Identify the company linked to the number that is sending these messages/calls using this website, then go to waspa.org.za/report-spam and report them. Please note that WASPA only has jurisdiction over WASPA members, so may not be able to assist you in dealing with unsolicited messages from non-members.

- Unsolicited direct marketing may also be a breach of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). You might consider completing Form 5 in order to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator, following the instructions on this page.
